Projects
eSmartCity

The main objective of ESMARTCITY is the improvement of the innovation capacity of the cities in the MED region by creating innovative ecosystems, involving Quadruple Helix actors. To this end, the project aims to pilot the ideas of the Smart City, using digital technologies and energy efficiency technologies to provide better services to the citizens with less environmental impact. The project stands up to the challenge of enhancing the necessary public authority/citizen pull to match the already existing technology push driving at large the Smart City market. To this end, it will enroll to a multinational pilot deployment in the MED area related to the application areas of intelligent districts, smarter energy and smarter lighting. Furthermore, it will test its sustainability with experimentation and co-creation scenarios and intervening in MED territory innovation policy change strategies.

Steer

The aim of STEER project is to create a tool that will provide medical centres and any other large institution involved in their energy efficiency programmes (governmental institutions, utilities providers, lending establishments, independent auditors, managers and technical staff), with information on the medical centre’s ideal energy consumption in different scenarios and on the most appropriate energy reduction plan for the medium-long term.

PowerCity

PowerCity is a project born from a collaboration between Politecnico di Milano University and the industrial partners Energy Glass, Comes, Micras, Enertech Solution and SolarDay. PowerCity aims to develop a complete end-to-end innovative solution for the manufacturing of Building integrated Photovoltaics (BiPV). In particular it is addressed to the implementation of BiPV with a modular and flexible approach, but maintaining the flexibility of custom products. It also provides an integrated solution through the use of innovative tools for BiPV monitoring and self-diagnosis.

OCCAM

OCCAM (Sistema IoT per l’Ottimizzazione del Comfort e del Consumo energetico degli AMbienti abitativi) is a regional project focused on Smart Living theme and Building Energy Efficiency in residential areas.

Medeia

As the level of automation and system complexity in factories and plants increases steadily, system engineering becomes more difficult and less productive. The MEDEIA project's objective is a radical improvement in productivity for the development of embedded control systems within the European industrial automation sector. In summary, MEDEIA will produce a pioneering methodology and a prototypical design and engineering framework for embedded system design based on concept of hierarchical-modular model based design, which will enable the European industrial automation industry to reduce its system design time and its costs for the development of complex control systems. A prototypical design tool has been developed and offered as an open source solution.

FP7 DERri

FP7 DERri is a European funded project focused on the integration and management of distributed energy sources. In particular, the project involved the development of Smart Grid prototypes governed by different optimal control techniques aiming at an efficiency-oriented integration of different renewable sources and storage systems.

ClimaVEM

ClimaVEM is a project born from a collaboration of DaisyLab with the industrial partners Ascon Tecnologic and Enertech Solution. ClimaVEM is a complete system for the monitoring of central heating plants, at flat, condominium and district level. Such framework allows the complete management of plants distributed all over the world, which are monitored by a central server. The adopted software architecture manages concurrent access to every single data concentrator and can even redistribute the computational effort, which increases with the number of monitored nodes, on many machines if necessary.

Cassandra

Cassandra project is a European-funded project focused on the development of models, methods and software tools tailored for demand-response analysis of free-energy electrical market agents. Such tools are meant to both ease the investment analysis and maximize the income projections.

BI-SMART

BI-SMART (BIM, Strumenti e Modelli Avanzati per la Ristrutturazione, l’efficienza energetica e l’innovazione Tecnologica) is a regional funded project from Regione Lombardia held in 2017-2019. The project focuses on a customer-oriented integration of the current IoT technologies, tailored on the common user requests. Concerning the current European politics, the focus was held on developing friendly and robust control strategies aiming at maximizing the building energy efficiency.
